Ahti Metsa about as good as it gets

I bought my Metsa from the ragweed forge more than a decade ago and it has not left me wanting more. The blade length is perfect for most camp chores, making fires (feather sticks, splitting larger wood and spine good for sparking on your fire steel). The blade came well sharpened and keeps an edge well. Finally, it really looks good hanging from your belt and I've never met a scout who didn't want one after seeing it. Also I think the price now is less than $10 more than I paid over a decade ago, that is value.

Excellent knives, and quick shipping.

Description

The Metsa ("Forest") has the same blade as the carbon Vaara. The handle is larger in both length and diameter. It has the pronounced pommel hook favored for draw cuts when wearing gloves or mittens. It's one of the most traditional Finnish patterns. The handle would work best for average or slightly larger hands. The sheath has a sturdy belt loop which will take belts up to about 2".

Item Details:

  • Blade Length: 3 5/8"
  • Blade Width: .75"
  • Blade Thickness: .129"
  • Handle Length: 4 3/8"
  • Weight in Sheath: 4.5 oz.

For those of you who would like a newer style bushcraft sheath for this knife, The JRE Model E fits this knife exceptionally well.
