BOREAL Knives - Polar Hammered Puukko #8

I needed a new working knife on the farm. This is a nice, carbon steel, laminated blade! I used the Lauri 18x35x3 guard. There was minimal fitting required for the guard, maybe 20 minutes with a file.

I used lignum vitae and leather disks for the handle. I opted to use a pin to backup the epoxy on the handle. It was TOUGH to drill through. That's some hard steel!

This knife is awesome. The grip is just right and fills my hand . The bear is gorgeous. Sharp as a razor . The sheath should be better to complete the finish . It deserves better.

moras are great knives for the money but they are strangely ruff on the spine. definitely needs a file put to it for sparking rods!

I recently started carving spoons. My first dedicated carving tools were Elemental knives. After a few spoons I decided to check out the Mora 106 as an upgrade. I ordered it from Ragweed Forge and it arrived promptly. The blade is sharp and sturdy. The handle is nice, clear birch. There is no varnish on the handle so it feels good in hand and had good grip traction. I have worked on two spoons with this knife so far. It seems to hold an edge well. The blade is sturdier than the knife I have been using. I strope at the end of each session but I'm not sure I've needed to yet. It seems to hold an edge well. The plastic sheath Mora provides is functional but not pretty. I am happy with my purchase and plan to pick up a Mora hook knife one of these days.

It's a real gem. It's very sturdy, razor sharp out of the box, perhaps a little shorter than I'd consider a combat blade, but from a utility perspective, this is an outstanding blade, and quite a bit more sturdy than I was expecting based on my other Finnish knives. It will straddle both the hunting and bushcraft worlds very well!

Nice tight grain, dense, one of my favorites.

I really like the width of this blade! Its about the right size for a nice skinning knife. As always, it's razor sharp. I used Leopardwood and Lacewood for the handle and a German silver bolster.
