Description

John Drewes has been a long time customer. Sending us photos of his custom knives every now and then, we have started to urge him to let us sell some. We often display his work on our Social Media Pages. After asking a number of time, he is ready to sell some of these beautiful pieces. Quite the creative craftsman with just beautiful hand finished work.

A PUUKKO WITH A NON-TRADITIONAL LOOK

The blade was made by K. J. Groven of Rapid City, S.D.  It is 3 3/4 inches in length.  It's a triple laminate of 1018 and 15N20 alloys and has a Scandinavian grind.  The handle is locally harvested Buckthorn wood and has a nickel-silver bolster.  Accent colored pieces are malachite green gemstone composite and black micarta.

The sheath is made of hand stitched and hand tooled Finnish veg. tanned steer hide.  There is a shaped wooden core inside the lower part of the sheath which gives the tooled design real depth. The shape of the lower part of the sheath is rather symmetrical, and some might think the knife could be inserted with the cutting edge either way.  But the knife must be inserted with the cutting edge oriented correctly, never reversed.  A small arrow on the back side of the sheath serves as a reminder to orient the cutting edge in the arrow's direction before insertion into the sheath.  Always be mindful of this.
The horsehair bead fob attached to the O-ring on the sheath is an embellishment that can be easily removed if not wanted.

Just a beautiful hand crafted piece, We truly love his work. Smooth and clean as always.
