Mad Toad Leathercraft & Knives #6 Bristlecone Pine
John Drewes has been a long time customer. Sending us photos of his custom knives every now and then, we have started to urge him to let us sell some. We often display his work on our Social Media Pages. After asking a number of time, he is ready to sell some of these beautiful pieces. Quite the creative craftsman with just beautiful hand finished work.
For the knife handle as well as the lower part of the sheath, he used Bristlecone Pine wood. This wood is hard and the tree is slow growing. Some Bristlecone pines are among the oldest living things on earth. It grows in harsh, mountainous environments. The knife has a bolster of stone washed nickel silver, and the blade is Lauri 95 HD with hammered finish. The blades tang goes through the handle and is secured with epoxy and a rivet at the distal end .
The upper part of the sheath is veg. tanned steer hide from Finland and is hand stitched. The lower part of the sheath is a 3-layer laminate of of Bristlecone pine wood secured with small phenolic pins and epoxy. The belt hanger is made of a four strand braid of steer leather thongs with Turk's head knots and a small Bristlecone pine wood keeper to connect the ends. It can be fastened to a belt in various ways.
Belt in 1st picture is for example, is not included.
