Description

John Drewes has been a long time customer. Sending us photos of his custom knives every now and then, we have started to urge him to let us sell some. We often display his work on our Social Media Pages. After asking a number of time, he is ready to sell some of these beautiful pieces. Quite the creative craftsman with just beautiful hand finished work.

Number 7 has a 4 1/8 inch triple laminate blade of 15N20 and 1018 steel alloy made by K.J. Groven of Rapid City, SD.  It has a Scandinavian grind and has a cutting edge much like a tanto blade—an unusual blade for a Norwegian smith to forge.  It should be easy to sharpen.

This knife has a "frame handle."  The main part is a 5- layer laminate.  The three inner layers are of G-10 fiberglass.  The outer layers are scales from Voodoo Resin.  The gray colored center G-10 layer has the cut-out and is the same thickness as the blade's tang.  It is all put together with epoxy and secured with six black phenolic pins that are visible with careful inspection.  The bolster is nickel silver- copper Mokume.  Acrylic "speckled amber", with G-10 and micarta pieces for accent.

The sheath has an upper part made of half-tanned steer hide.  The lower part is a three-layer laminate.  The front piece is stabilized spalted beech wood, and the back part is olive wood.  Tiny black phenolic pins help secure the lower part which is all put together with epoxy.
Just a beautiful hand crafted piece, We truly love his work.
