Great Knife but Why Not 5 stars?

This a great knife with a quality Laurin Metali carbon steel blade used by top brands in Norway and beyond. The jimping that has been added to the first 2/3" of the blade spine is appreciated while carving and game harvesting. The handle size, shape, finish and leather washers reflect a very high degree of workmanship. The leather sheath can only be described as a work of art which secures the knife with a magnet you would never know was there. The only question is: Why not set the rat tail tang into the handle so that the ricasso fits flat against the brass bolster? Leaving a gap seems sloppy and collects water and miscellaneous crud in food prep and game processing tasks.

This knife is started with the well know and great steel from a Lauri Carving 105mm High Carbon blade (4 1/4"). The Handle is made from Oak with leather spacers stacked in the middle and a polished Brass Bolster

Dan has started adding a magnet inside of the leather that is unnoticeable but yet holds the blade in great!

This beautiful and well decorated Leather sheath is hand dyed (brownish/red), hand tooled and hand stitched. The sheath will accommodate a belt up to 3in. Really enjoy this style sheath.

Overall Length: 8.5in

Quite a rustic and traditional looking piece.
