Whetstones have been quaried in Finland for centuries. These come from the village of Västilä, and are marketed by Wästikivi. You can visit the company webpage. The stones are used with water, and quickly form a slurry or paste that improves the performance. These are quite fine, and measure about 4" long, 15/16" wide and 5/16" thick. They are suitable for basic sharpening, and could be followed by the Viking stone above for polished shaving edge.

We were able to get our latest batch with original packaging and sharpening instructions at a lower cost! Even wider material. 100x30x8mm. 4" long, 1 1/4" wide, 5/16"thick

Wastikivi Finnish whetstone purchase

I was impressed by the Wastikivi whetstone. It reminded me of the soft Arkansas whetstones in its performance but with the added benefit that it generates a little bit of slurry. In addition to the Wastikivi you sell I would highly encourage you to look into the Orsa Swedish sandstone if you haven't already. I've used natural whetstones from all over the planet and it is my favorite natural coarse stone for resetting a bevel angle or repairing a chipped or very dull Edge which can be followed by the Wastikivi or soft Arkansas for those who like a sharp but still slightly toothy Edge for excellent results. The Orsa is recommended to be used with water but I find it actually performs best with a light oil and generating a little slurry first with some sort of Nagura or bout stone. I think it would be an excellent addition to your already great selection of Scandinavian inspired products. Keep up the good work!!
