Ron Skala has been making these custom knives for years! Using mostly bone/antler handles, he sure has it figured out.
This is the second knife of this kind that we have seen from Ron.
This knife is started with a Lauri Stainless 105mm (4 1/8") carving blade. We are starting to see more and more wood work out of Ron and love it! He used one solid piece of Leopardwood for this handle with fiber spacers and a Brass Finger guard.
The Sheath on this is also made form Leopardwood. The seams are super clean and carved perfectly for a tight fit to the blade. Just a beautiful set here.
The Handle on this would be great for right handed or left handed folks. I must add that this is also quite large. I would suggest this to be someone with a Large glove size or bigger but the shape is excellent.
The well pronounced finger guard and is hand made out of Brass that he was able to salvage and Mill himself.. You can be sure this one will not come out on accident. Another awesome piece for the price. Most knives with clean wood work like this and a wooden sheath are priced at least 2x as much.
