Showy Quality Affordable Puukko

Showy but not ostentatios describes this 36th addition to the wide variety in my puukko collection. Considering its many features, at $250, it's a bargain. Pete hand-makes the entire knife with no machinery, & his detail orientation shouts superb quality & aesthetics. The 4 inlay mosaic pins are beautiful, reminiscent of decorative Indian mandelas of old. Redbeard himself has commented that Pete's knives can be tilted handle-heavy & blade-light, but this # 2 with 5 1/8-in handle & 4 7/8-in blade--Old Country Lauri high-carbon but polished so bright it appears stainless--both looks & feels perfectly balanced, though lovely carnauba-treated grip could be slippery in a wet hand. The thick black bovine sheath is unique in that it's non-traditionally side-seam stitched yet has a dangler attached with an easily-removable spring-loaded round ring going thru the D-ring on the belt strap that allows the rig to swing freely from hip. The long knife nestles deep in it for security, but the flared pommel enables ready withdrawal. That Pete chose a rose-colored thread for stitching instead of bright red to match the thin G-10 spacers underscores his artful tastefulness echoed thru-out this affordable quality piece of restrained puukko showmanship.
