Helle Blade 96 (Viking)

Waited several weeks for this ferrule for the Laplander I bought earlier. When it came it needed to be filed a bit to fit over the tang….. I thought! Warning,,,, The Laplander ferrule fits the knife but grind down the tang to get it on. Not the other way. Costly mistake but I’m learning. Eventually I’ll get my Laplander built. Just not today.

It's a big knife, but not too big to be usable in the field, but not too small...Kinda perfect size to be in camp...The extended tang makes an interesting hold for chopping which is cool. I tend to like my handles thicker, but the width in the center of the tang is more than adequate. So i went wide and used contouring to get a good fit. This knife is 3/4 finished and ready to get in the ring. Really great blade and rageweed forge, thanks to you, I have more knives than I have friends. And I'm not complaining!

Made this for my wife to use as a crafting knife/purse tool. Let's just say that this little fatty is my new best friend, and now I want one too! Thanks ragweed forge for enabling my collecting of hobbies, at an unhealthy rate. Truley you have a customer for life. And ps great little knife too!

If you’re reading this, you have probably been researching this little knife. I have had mine for about one year. I have used it in the kitchen to get a feel of it. Slicing fruit, and chopping vegetables. It’s a small knife, so it’s more of a pairing knife, not an Ulu. If you take your time, it will do the work. I forced a patina with vinegar so it wouldn’t rust, but still dry it thoroughly. It’s easy to sharpen, great in the hand, and has a wonderful, simple design. Timeless really. Cheers from Chicago.

I’m a wood carver and my knives are made out to old straight razors and the old timers are gone and I need to make them for the next generation. My questions about what steel was answered quickly and respectfully and I was directed to the Lauri blade. I had to reshape it and thin the blade to best fit my needs. It held up well and holds a razor sharp edge.

Great material will buy again and again. Red beard is the best.

This is a very attractive and well made knife. the polished steel is very nice and the wood in the handle is exceptional, as is the sheath. But the main reason I like this knife is its size, it is not too small to be useful or too large to be unwieldy. It feels good in the hand.

One of my top three favorite blades from the Norwegians.
I utilized Masur Birch, Linen Micarta and leather for this fine gift for a friend.

I am a new wood carver/whittler. Found my new knife got dull quite quickly. The Rje 4 sided strop brought the edge back to nice and sharp very quickly. Good purchase. Thank you.
