John Drewes has been a long time customer. Sending us photos of his custom knives every now and then, we have started to urge him to let us sell some. We often display his work on our Social Media Pages. After asking a number of time, he is ready to sell some of these beautiful pieces. Quite the creative craftsman with just beautiful hand finished work.
This is a Scandinavian style knife and sheath made with a number of man-made materials. The 3 5/8 inch blade is a triple laminate Norwegian style (Scandinavian grind) made of 1018 and 15N20 alloys forged by K. J. Groven of Rapid City, S. D.
This knife has a frame handle. It is a 5-layer laminate secured with six black phenolic pins and epoxy. The center layer is G-10 fiberglass and has the cut-out for the tang. On each side of this center layer is a thin black layer of G-10. The outer two scales are acrylic resin with an imbedded aluminum mesh from Voodoo Resins (Kraken Core pattern). The bolster is stone washed nickel-silver and the accent pieces are micarta, fiber spacer material, and acrylic "malachite" (green).
The upper part of the sheath is half- tanned steer hide and is sewn Norwegian style. The lower part of the sheath is a five layer laminate. The middle layer has a cut-out for the blade and is made of Sycamore wood. The two thin black layers are G-10, and the outer layers are Kydex thermoplastic (infused Kryptek pattern). All is secured with 14 small black phenolic pins and epoxy. This knife "pops" nicely into the sheath.
Just a beautiful hand crafted piece, We truly love his work.
