Insane value for money

These blades look like the ones in my Wood Jewel/Ahi knives and are shaving sharp. Robust and simple make me happy.

Always a joy to find a quality bargain!

I read about this beauty and took Redbeard's observation on the handle/blade gap to heart. As soon as I opened mine, I mixed up some JB Weld Kwik 5 minute epoxy and fixed her right. Pic included, looks like it's supposed to be that way. Of course after I worked it into the joint I tooled it with an alcohol soaked paper towel and made sure no residue on the blade or handle.

As with others, the handle is very comfortable, and I just like the feel of the thicker blade and higher grind compared to a Mora Basic. I took mine for a ride on my bench strop with green compound, and it really is scary sharp now. This is an excellent utility knife and the versatile sheath design to ride either side/handed makes for a sweet package. This is a clever, functional, high value design.

My First Finnish Knife

I bought two of these knives since the price was very reasonable. Glad I did. I also noticed the gap between the blade and handle and put a bead of clear Gorilla glue around it - that took care of that issue. I also sharpened the spine so it will take a ferro rod. These knives are sticky-sharp with a little stropping. I may buy some more. These would make great gifts for friends and family. Hope they stay in inventory.

Description

These knives were made by Laurin Metalli in Kauhava Finland. Everything we have ever received from Lauri has been quality and these are no different. Offered at a great price! Black handle and Red sheath. Lanyard in both the bottom of the sheath and in the handle of the knife.

When I was visiting in April of 2024, Mr. Lauri showed me one of these knives and I knew we had to offer them. They are quite comfortable, light, but yet solid knives made out of 80CrV2.

It seems to me that these were the Finnish response to the Mora Basic 511 and they sure nailed it. These will make a Great utility and Carving knife!

The knife can be put into the sheath either way and the clip on the sheath can be removed and replaced on the other side to work for right or left-handed folks. Lanyard hole in handle!

There is one thing that I do not love about them. The blades were inserted into the handles instead of the Handles molded over the Blades. This means that there is a small gap on either side of the blade where it meets the handle. If I were to use this for any cooking or food purposes, I would seal this gap with epoxy or a hard glue to avoid any bacteria or food from getting stuck inside.
