Helle Rubin (2026 Limited Edition)

This year, the Harding knife turns 40 and celebrates its ruby anniversary. To mark the occasion and honor the success and history of the Harding, we have dedicated our limited edition knife for 2026 to the knife originally made by Helle craftsman Erling Opstad.

Harding is a modern Helle classic. The beautiful handle combines light and dark materials and the highly polished blade with droppoint function has contributed to it being one of our most popular models throughout our 94-year history.

The Harding Rubin plays on the history of the Harding knife, but changes the visual aspects of the knife in quite a striking way. First, we have incorporated the ruby color into both the handle and the sheath, by adding red leather to the handle and red stitching on the sheath. This indicates that this is the 40th anniversary edition – and also gives the design new style and visibility.

Secondly, the handle pattern from the traditional Harding has been changed to include more layers, which adds more complexity and changes the knife's visual profile.

Third, we delved into our material warehouse and found split beech from 1986 – the year the first Harding was made. Split wood is wood that has been infected with fungus. This fungus changes the structure of the wood, and also changes the color and skin tone in the process. This creates beautiful, patterned and multifaceted wood. We then stabilized it and cut it into two cross sections (x-cuts) that fit perfectly between pieces of newer, stabilized beech (Kebony).

The result is a Harding Rubin shaft that still carries and plays on the dark and bright tones of the original Harding, but in a markedly different way than the original. The tones of the Harding Rubin therefore carefully mirror the original, highly polished H3LS blade.
