The traditional Lapland Puukko is the all-purpose utility knife of the Sami people. As a nomadic people in a harsh environment, they have refined the style over centuries until there is nothing superfluous. The elegant result is a real demonstration that form follows function. The classic Nordic blade is narrow enough to penetrate, has a straight section for slicing, and enough curve at the tip for light skinning chores. The wide, flat pommel allows the use of the off hand to add force to the point. The deep leather sheath is an indication of how serious a lost knife can be in the wilderness. The sculpted handle of arctic birch gives excellent control for the draw strokes that are favored when the hands are gloved or numb with cold.
The Trekking Set is a dual-knife set featuring both the Pikku Uppo and Iso Uppo knives in a single sheath.
The blades of both knives are made from polished carbon steel, while the handles are crafted from curly birch, available either oiled or lacquered. The specific features of each knife can be found in their individual descriptions.
This combination knife set is the perfect package for outdoor activities and hiking. It merges a handy whittling knife for campfire tasks and cooking with a larger tool for shelter building and heavier work. It's also an excellent shared tool for pairs of hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. The sheath, made from vegetable-tanned leather, is available in two color options: natural light or dark brown.
Compact yet robust, the Trekking Set can be worn on the belt despite its slightly heavier weight.
The overall length of the set is approximately 30 cm, with the Iso Uppo featuring a 13 cm blade and the smaller Pikku Uppo with an 8 cm blade.
