Rick has been a wood worker and knife builder for many years. I was quite surprised with the creativity when the first batch of knives was sent. Every one of his knives we have seen have exceptional craftsmanship and  are beyond creative.

This knife was started with a Lauri Carving 95mm High carbon hammer finished blade. The handle is made out of Some beautiful Coco Bolo wood with Moose Antler spacers! and Nickel Silver Bolster.Beautiful finished piece.

The blade measures out at 3 5/8" and3/4" wide  The handle at the longest point is 4 1/4" so the knife total length is just under 8"

The sheath is made out of a dark brown dyed veg tanned leather with Moose tracks made out of Moose antler Pieces. Quite neat. The knife fits quite snug into the sheath as it is supposed to.

The Pinnacle Apropos Puukko

Though I have 2 other puukkos made by Rick Nurmi, an American, this # 18 is at the top, as everything about it reflects Saami (formerly Lapland) culture. 1st, the 3 11/16-in-long X 3/32-in-thick BLADE is a high-carbon hand-"Finnish"ed Lauri, one of the sharpest ever brand new. 2nd, the nickel-silver-bolstered, ergonomically contoured dark brown cocobolo wood HANDLE features 4 1/4-in-thick white moose antler spacers, the bottom 2 visible when knife is fully inserted into SHEATH. It's a traditional rear-seam, flared-tip dangler with 4 matching white moose hoof prints fashioned from moose antler carefully imbedded flush in, & contrasting dramatically against, the dark brown vege-tanned leather. How cool is that? Unique, great looking, with a near-4-in dangerously keen blade, & made mostly in USA, it has everything you could want in a true Scandinavian-style puukko. And Redbeard knocked $60 off the stiff $429.99 price due to minor handle damage I fixed to almost imperceptible! Thank you Rob. You are the best.
